Red hot pokers (Kniphofia) are a welcome sight on a dull day in winter. These exotic and striking plants from the eastern parts of Africa and Madagascar transitioning to our temperate shores with ease. Now one of the trending plants worldwide.

Tubular brightly coloured red flowers in clusters along a long flowering stem and have strap-like leaves. Flowers mid to late winter giving a burst of colour attracting many birds like the Tui, Korimako (bellbird) and Wax-eyes. The birds swing from the stems as they sip the nectar rich flowers. The biggest draw of this plant is its use for flower arrangements and as cut flowers.

The plant is tolerant of drought conditions, likes a well-drained soil and will tolerate more than a light frost. These hardy plants which will survive just about anywhere. Grows up to 1 metre in height and 500mm wide.

The clumps are true perennials, lasting many years with minimal or no care, disease free and pet friendly.

Contained in a .75L nursery pot.
