Aside from their interesting foliage, these plants are notable for the range of their common names. Besides blood leaf, they are known as the chicken gizzard plant, the beefsteak plant, and other descriptive names.
This tropical likes sun except in hot summer areas, a little afternoon shade is recommended. It branches well and makes a bushy mound. They make good hedges in semi-shade areas.
Sun to partial shade, 18 to 30 inches tall. Allow slightly to dry between waterings.
