Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is specially engineered to rust in a controlled, protective way. Unlike mild steel, it won’t flake or degrade; instead, it forms a stable, sealed patina that enhances the artwork’s natural character.
Aging Process:

Your artwork will begin to rust gradually over time

To speed up the curing process, place it outdoors and spray with white vinegar

During curing, the surface may bleed—keep it in an area where runoff is safe
